Injection Update on Left and Right Hand

Have noticed that the injection in my Left hand is wearing off as pain is constant and my grip is poor. The injection in the right hand is working for the moment. Question is do I go back and see my GP about the left hand or shell I wait for a while. The plan was that I would go back in 3/6 months if the injection was not working. The left was injected in May and the Right in June. Pain is keeping me awake most of the night. Mark

It's interesting that it had any effect at all after surgery and given that the physiological result of the operation seems to have been quite good. We are in pretty much unknown territory here and I'm not sure quite what is being treated. I would certainly keep your GP aware of what is happening. There was going to be an appointment with one of the orthopaedics surgeons too wasn't there? JB

I was going to see the consultant after I saw you in clinic in jan, but I did not manage to see the consultant due to work commitments. So my GP felt try one of the options that you had put down, which was injection. On your opinion what would be advisiabe try another injection or get refered back to the consultant. Mark

I would try to see a consultant hand surgeon at this point. So far as I am aware the avaialable specialists around the South East are Mr A Smith in Canterbury, Mr H Belcher in East Grinstead and Mr Compson at Kings but there are probably a few more around. JB

Those are pretty severe symptoms again aren't they. I think your GP really should re-organise the hand surgery opinion at this point. If necessary we can repeat your NCS and ultrasound examination but I would like to know what a competent hand surgeon thinks about it first. JB

Managed to get my GP appiontment brought forward to tuesday as got a day off. Will mention about the nerve conduction studies being repeated on seeing the surgeon to see what he thinks. Not getting much sleep at the moment but at least I can still cope with work. Will keep in updated. Mark
