The next thing we should try for this is local steroid injection. To arrange this you need to call the SIPC office - contact details are HERE and ask them to book you in for a carpal tunnel injection. The same person who does the injection will also carry out a follow-up assessment 6 weeks later but you can also stay in touch with me on here - indeed it might be worth updating your symptom scores by repeating the questionnaire now so that we can see how much worse it feels to you at present. At this point I need to see you again, re-test it and take a look at it. There are spaces in this Thursday morning's clinic (26th April) as a result of a couple of cancellations this morning so if you are free we will take a look at it then. JB

Hi
Thank you for seeing me at such short notice in your clinic the other day. It is a shame that i have got to have surgery but nothing else seems to have worked for me. Just to let you know i can go in at short notice if the chance comes up. Thank you again for your help

As we have put you on Mr Smith's list for surgery it will probably come up pretty quickly anyway. Those operations are booked by a surgery waiting list office, unlike the ones done in general practice which I book directly myself, so you are currently in the hands of the admin staff who arrange Mr Smith's lists. Hi I contacted the surgery waiting list this morning for Mr smiths list. They have told me it is going to be the end of july. I really dont care who or where i have the op i would just like to be free of pain. It is getting worse and also i am now dropping things more often. Is there anything you can do to get this op done any quicker with somebody else?
Sorry to be a pain thanks for your time

I'm afraid I can't do much better than the end of July - the earliest space we have in the primary care surgery scheme is 17th July at present - which is not significantly different. The only way we will get in much earlier is if someone cancels or a decision is made to run some extra operating lists. JB

Hi

That's certainly an improvement - I hope that is still Mr Smith's list and not another surgeon. JB

At least we have eventually managed a fairly well timed operation (by NHS standards at least). I hope it turns out well for you. JB
