Injection R/H 9/1/12 @Wye (Dr. Miles). After 24hrs virtually pain free but no return of sensation in thumb and first /second fingers.Wrist pain began to return in late march but less severe, currently occasional nighttime waking.
Do you think I should settle for this or take any further action?

I would be inclined to treat that further, given that it was grade 4 to begin with. One could either go for surgery, in which case the fairly good response to injection should be predictive of successful surgery..... or one could try the experiment of a further dose of steroids which is more convenient but something of an unknown in terms of predicting response. If you want to try a further dose of steroids then I think we would test the hand again first. If you want to go for surgery we will just book it. JB

I am still wary of surgery .Is there any risk of losing more sensation in the fingers ? (re.Guitar playing)
I don`t think that I will take any action at the present time owing to holiday commitments but will keep
updating if there are any changes.K

it is always possible that it could get worse of course, including deterioration of sensation in the fingers, however it is probably not a big risk in the short term, If you want to be sure whether it getting physiologically worse or better then we can always fit you in for a further test so that we can measure it.  JB
