Mum has received several phone calls from margate re surgery but the phone number is just a message service . She was given the name Adam but has subsequently been referred back to you. She has decided that she would like the surgery now. Can you please advise where that leaves us ?

thank you

I don't have much influence over the Margate orthopaedic administration. We can probably look into it a little next week if I ask Nick to see what he can find out as he is largely based there.JB

Thank you for that. in fact things moved on at quite a pace.

She was given an op date and pre op phone appointment...all going smoothly.....

She then cancelled the operation ....bur didn't really know why .I have reinstated the operation this Saturday 17th Nov at Canterbury midday.

The pre op appointment is now Wednesday at 5.00pm and the nurse assures me that it is normal to stop warfarin for the 2 days prior to the op but this will be advised on Wednesday as part of the standard questionnaire procedure.

Is it safe to assume that there is nothing else that I need to do ? Her right hand is becoming troublesome again so I believe that having the op is the right decision.

Yes they do usually stop warfarin for a few days for surgery. If anticoagulatioon is vital they will replace it with an alternative which is less likely to cause problems with bleeding form the wound. JB
