Steroid injection?

Hi Dr Bland,

After my initial consultation with you on Saturday 13th July, I did as you requested and read your forum and all about the treatments.
I had wanted the surgery to begin with as my brother has had a successful operation. After some thought, I have decided to try an injection if this is possible please? Unfortunately I am not very good with needles!!!
I have been wearing the splint you provided at night but am still experiencing tingling and numbness during the day.

Thanking you in advance,

Sharon

We can inject it for you on Monday morning if you wish. It's usually a pretty trivial needle. JB

We can do them between about 8:45 and 12:30 - it's usually a bit quieter earlier in the clinic if you are an early riser. Just turn up and we will fit you in amongst all the other CTS patients. If you are able, use public transport or get someone else to drive. JB

Hello Dr Bland
Sorry I haven't posted anything lately but I forgot my password.
I had my first injection back in July 2013 and everything was fine. No symptoms for a few months.
Since around November I have noticed the tingling and numbness coming back. In the last couple of months the tingling has worsened to many times a day.
I was wondering if I could return to your clinic to try to ease this problem again.

Thank you

Sharon

Yes we can see you again. I have sent out an appointment for later this month as it's probably a good idea to see whether your CTS is any worse than the grade 3 it was last year - if it is, then that might push us towards surgery.JB

Hello Dr. Bland,
Sorry but I have had to create a new account to contact you. I was previously sharon69.
I was wondering if I could have another appointment with you please as the tingling and numbness have returned. My first steroid injection was in July 2013, the second was in February 2014. This has lasted a lot longer but unfortunately the symptoms have come back. I also have tingling in my left hand now although this is not as severe as my right hand.
Thank you
Sharon

Hello Dr. Bland
Thank you for sorting my account through my e-mail. I have not yet received an appointment as stated in your message.
As it has been over two weeks I thought I had better contact you again in case it has been lost in the post.
Hopefully I shall be seeing you soon.
Thank you
Sharon

Hello Dr Bland
I was wondering if I could have an appointment for a test on my left hand as this has now become unbearable every day.
I had surgery last year on my right hand and have been symptom free ever since. I am so glad I had the procedure done.
I have completed the questionnaire online.
Thanking you in advance.

Patients who have good reactions to injection tend to do well with surgery too. I'm pleased the right hand operation worked well. I'll arrange to test you again as soon as I can and we can have a discussion on how to approach the left side. It's your non-dominant hand and we may be catching it earlier so we'll see what it looks like and then decide how to proceed. JB
