Another steroid injection?

Hello Dr Bland!

The reason for getting in contact again after all this time (2 years!), during which the CTS had to take a back seat while I tried to sort out severe back problems, culminating last month in surgery for an L4-5 discectomy and compression at WHH, is that the CTS is still there and getting worse, particularly in the right hand, primarily the second and third fingers, which are constantly numb at the tip. There is also numbness in the left thumb, and moderate, intermittent pain in the left forearm, neither of which I have had before...

I think another steroid injection may be called for, as opposed to the surgical option, as the previous two were very effective, and having just had 6 weeks off work (I'm a teacher) I'd rather not start 2014 asking for yet more sick leave....!

What is your view? Presumably I will need to be re-registered - do I need to go back to my GP?

I think we should re-test it before making any decision so I will just send out another appointment. If I make it late in the day you may be able to do a more or less full day at work and then come to see me. JB

Thanks, that sounds like a plan. I'm off work till 06 January, so can do virtually any time!
