Reoccurrence of symptoms two years later

I had carpal tunnel surgery on my left hand six years ago and my right had two years ago. Both were successful surgeries. During the past two months, I have noticed an intermittent tingling sensation in the right hand. Sometimes it would happen one day a week and sometimes not at all. During the past two days, the tingling, or more of an electric sensation has been constant. I have put a brace back on, but I am at a loss. I know that this was a "tight" carpal tunnel release according to the doctor. Does it return? Should I contact the doctor if the sensation does not go away. Also, I do not have any other issues or problems along with this.

CTS does, rarely, re-occur after successful surgery. You need to make a careful comparison of the symptoms before surgery with the symptoms now (see the page of this site dealing with failed surgery). It's also very helpful to look at nerve conduction results from before the operation, after the operation while symptoms were in remission (if you are very lucky), and now. You can also sometimes get useful information from high resolution ultrasound imaging. JB
