That's a pretty complex previous history that probably calls for quite extensive EMG testing - did they check your feet as well? The 43 score will partly reflect the fact that you have other problems too and this will be distorting the typical symptom pattern of CTS. If you do have conclusive evidence of CTS then what treatment you are offered will largely depend on the speciality of the doctor seeing you. Surgeons are more likely to offer surgery and GPs and rheurmatologists are more likely to offer local steroid injection. JB

The Dr is a neruologest after the test he looked at me a said that I have CTS in both hands and arms no they have not done my feet he injected the back of my head because the pain is so bad it it was a little weird for a while but the discomfort is back
He is really trying to figture out what going on witch I really like instead of just increasing the drugs I'm on GABAPENTIN bacolfen and Percocet and many other drugs for the other issues I'm not sure we're things are going to go I'm thankful for any input

If your feet are numb as well then it would have made sense to test the nerves there too. Sometimes an underlying nerve problem will predispose you to develop things like CTS. If you have a copy of your nerve conduction results I would be happy to take a look but overall it sounds as though the neurologist is in the best position to try and work out what is going on. JB

The most worrying thing in your story is the leg symptoms, carpal tunnel syndrome being, by definition a hand problem. In medicine we generally try to look for one diagnosis which can explain all of a patient's symptoms and although this is not always possible it is always worth trying. It will be interesting to see what your neurologist says about it all. JB

That has been an issue I have been this way scene I got the PE'S what seemed to be a stroke was not then all the nerve things started muscle spasms involuntary movement They found the neck issue and fixed it thinking it would resolve a lot of the issues it has not happened after 35 days in rehab to help walk and get strength back I'm still the same with now more issues hands arms leg and feet I it like my nerves are in nerve storm never ending

Certainly sounds a bit of a diagnostic challenge and I'm curious to hear if a clear diagnosis is ever reached. You are probably best off working with your neurologist for now. JB

Hi it's been awhile since I have been on I went back to see DR UDDIN he said my left hand is bad and needs surgery and my right hand is not as bad as the left and he is going to inject it. Today he injected my right hand on the wrist the injection was not painful but when layed palm flat it was very painful almost pass out painful I sat there for few minutes I got out to the car my hand felt weird at that time I thought weird numb my sister went back in to ask more questions they said that's normal and to use it .on the way home I got very nauseated it passed and has returned fill flushed .My hand still weird numb I realized that it's doubled in size very swollen very puffy but not painful can't feel anything I'm swollen the top of my hand ,wrist ,and up to my elbow is this normal

You don't normally see dramatic swelling after steroid injecion for CTS no. A lot of the subjective experience depends on whether they mix a local anaesthetic with the steroid injection - did they tell you what they were ijectiing or give you the drug information sheet?. Did you ever manage to lay hands on your NCS results? JB
