How painful is an EMG test on hands?

Will have one on may 15 and quiet anxious about it. On a scale of 0 to 10, how painful is it?

Does it hurt worse than a blood test, a bit worse, much worse, somehow wrose? How long does it take? I don't worry so much about the shocks as I'm worried about the needles. My doctor referred me to check corporal tunnel syndrome.

Depends to some extent on where you are being tested. In the UK people will mostly do only NCS without needle EMG whereas the Americans tend to go in for extensive needle examination. Most people tolerate NCS very well but a few individuals really do not like them so it's hard to predict in advance how you particularly will react. Statistically speaking however there is a good chance that you will not be unduly distressed. If in the USA then a lot depends on how tolerant you are of needles - but you probably know that already from blood tests and immunisations etc. JB
