CTS and redness around the wrist

Hi,
My girlfriend has developed CTS a month ago. She's using a splint.
She's now in an other city and today she says there's some redness aroud the hand and wrist.
What is this, is it an emergency situation, what can be done?

Probably not directly related to the CTS and not an emergency. I'm not an expert on skin lesions - to me a rash is a rash mostly - but it might be a reaction to elastic in the splint fabric or perhaps just a heat reaction if it's a very hot splint (some neoprene splints in particular can get very hot and you can get this sort of appearance from, for example, sitting with the legs exposed to a hot fire). Try leaving the splint off for a few days and see if it settles. JB
