Scar abnormality?

Since having surgery in mid September last year, I am continuing to experience some tingling and tenderness through my wrist and hand. Lifting heavy loads is still not an option.

A friend who had successful surgery many years ago, looked at my scar the other day and declared “that’s not normal“ and told me that the scar should be totally flat.

What is normal? Is having a deep scar indicative of something being awry?

Not expecting any sort of personalised diagnosis, just curious about it really.
None of the scars I’m seeing online look like mine!

That scar is no so far out of the ordinary for 4 months post op. The symptoms are more of a concern. Unless it was a very severe CTS before surgery it should be pretty good by now. JB

Thanks for taking a look. Really appreciate it.
The surgeon said that it was quite severe case with a very restricted nerve.

Should I be seeing a physio?
I’ve been massaging the scar, but living in terror of doing myself more damage... CTS has already cost me my job.

Massage is generally considered to be good for the scar and you are unlikely to do any harm - but the scientific basis for it is scanty. In terms of assessing continuing symptoms, comparison of before and after nerve conduction studies is the single most useful thing - were any tests doen before surgery. JB
