How urgent is it?

Hi everyone,
Over the last year, I've had intermittent pain around my wrist, recently it has progressed to more severe pain and weakness. Last night it felt very tight, then my arm went numb. I had been researching and everything says to go see a doctor, but with everything going on in the work I only want to contact a physician if it's urgent. Basically, what I'm asking is will there be a difference if I call n in a month? Permanent wise.

Also note,
I can't rest my wrist at all. I am a student and it is exam period meaning lots of typing.

Thank you in advance.

The answer to that largely depends on what the diagnosis is - that is not necessarily carpal tunnel syndrome. If you complete the symptom questionnaire that will give me a much better basis on which to comment. JB
