What can I do

Hi I'm on Gabapentin and Amitriptyline while the "pain" has been subdued to a certain degree, the same sensations remain. During the night my hands feel like they are 4times their size. The pins and needles is also driving me insane is their anything i can do? The only thing that seems to help is getting up and sitting upright. The pins and needles is getting worse during the days as well, the constant ache in my forearm and hands is draining.

Are you one of my patients? (Sorry I'm offline from the hospital just now so not easy to look up your name). If your problem is CTS then I'm afraid gabapentin has been shown to be no better than placebo in trials, and amitriptyline has never been formally tested. The only things that are really known to help are splints, steroids and surgery - all of which you can read about here on the website. JB

I've filled in the form on here after being given the link by my Dr. Was told to wait for an appointment to see you. But i an early struggling with this. It's in both hands and is driving me mad. Currently trying to type with right hand on fire and no feeling in left fingers.

OK, we need to see you. I see you did the questionnaire last month but unfortunately I don't get notified of these by the website at present. You have to email me separately as the button at the end of the questionnaire is broken. I'll need your contact details to set up an appointment (see the patient information page for a full list of what I need) but we should be able to see you next week I think. JB

No need to re-do - we've found the exiting one. However, if the symptoms have got a lot worse or better since early December you can update the symptom severity part of it by clicking the "Add a new severity score" button on the home page. JB
