I had injections in both my wrists on 30/04/12, after a painful first couple of weeks the pain in my wrists was extremly good up until late October. I am now finding it hard to bend my right wrist and am being woken everynight with pins and needles in both hands. Do I need to see my GP to be referred for retesting or injections.

At the moment we can just see you again for review. We'll get it organised and send you an appointment. JB

I have got my appointment through for the injection to my right wrist on 28 March 2013 at St Richards Rd Surgery in Deal with the Orthopaedic Service. When I had my last injections they sent details through of do's and dont's, there was no information with their letter. Can I return to work after the injection or should I rest it? If so for how long?

Thanks

There are lots of different views on what to do after injection for CTS and no real evidence to say that one policy is better than another. I generally recommend resting it if it hurts but otherwise go back to using it normally immediately and don't immobilise it in any case. I think keeping the tendons moving probably helps to distribute the steroid in the carpal tunnel area. So far as I am concerned you can go back to work immediately if it feels comfortable. JB
