Middle of the night and early morning symptoms are pretty typical of CTS so it's worth considering. JB

Thanks for that i havent been to docs for a number of years so obviously worrying me. she just printed a sheet of and left it at that is it likely to get better then on its own, like i said it doesnt tend to bother me in the day. should i buy a splint from boots .

Buying an off the shelf splint is a reasonable self help approach. There is a page of this site which shows you what to look for and how to adjust them. The information on CTS on this site is more comprehensive and more accurate than many of the patient leaflets that get handed out though there are a few good ones around - like that provided by the Arthritis Resrearch Council. You will find the best available estimate of how likely it is to improve by itself in an Italian study referenced on this page (Padua 2001) - I don't think it amounts to 'likely' myself, except in the special circumstance of the patient being pregnant. Doing the diagnsotic questionnaire on this site will give you a better idea of just how likely your problem is to be CTS. JB
