Hi I am new to the forum currently waiting in an appointment for nerve conduction studies but feel symptoms of CTS is getting worse. Both hands below thumb area have dents.

I am waiting in nerve conduction studies appointment. My thumb muscles are now showing wasting is this an advanced symptom of CTS. I have been having symptoms since November 2013.

I've pulled both postings together into one. If your thumbs look like the illustration here on the website then you may well have severe CTS, though that is not the only possible explanation. It would be useful to run through the symptom questionnaire on here too and see what you score. How long a wait are you faced with for nerve conduction studies? JB

Hi thanks for replying I done the online test in January and again today which had worsened left 3.45 and right 3.27. I was referred by orthopaedics virtual clinic 4 weeks ago for nerve conduction tests so hopefully will hear of an appointment soon - in Scotland.. I work as an office manager in a very busy GP surgery and my work seems to be aggravating both hands. The weakness and clumsiness is causing great annoyance. I've worn splints at night since January first issued from physio but not really helping. Stopped them for 1 week in February when I thought symptoms were a bit better but within 1-2 weeks pain, weakness and pins and needles especially around thumbs and first fingers reappeared. There are dents at the base of both thumbs but not as significant as the picture on your website.

May I say your website and forum is very helpful,

Thank you for your time.

You have a fairly modest diagnostic symptom score so this may or may not be CTS. It is also more likely to be mild in physiological terms but you do sometimes get surprises on nerve conduction studies. You certainly have symptoms in the right place and with the right timing for CTS so we shall see. I hope you don't have to wait too long - I have no idea what waiting times are like in Scotland at present. JB

Yes just the waiting game now I guess. I was kinda concerned as an uncle (mothers brother) has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease in December although I don't know how long his symptoms have been ongoing and how long it took for the diagnosis. Anyways you are a very kind man taking extra time to answer peoples queries online I haven't seen anything like it.

Regards.
