just been diagnosed and was given option injection or op said i would think about injection as im selfemployed to give me some time to save for time off work but if waiting list is weeks or months would like to go for op as this would give me time to save anyway p.s i see there is two ways to operate one with a quicker healing time is that available regards marknoble

NHS waiting times for surgery here in East Kent vary from about 3 weeks to 6 months depending on hospital/GP surgery. As of this moment you could actually have it done on Saturday because I have a cancellation but I am quite likely to fill that this morning.

The 'quicker healing' op is the endoscopic or 'keyhole surgery' version. The nearest person doing those is in East Grinstead and the difference in return to work time between the traditional and keyhole operations averages 2 days so it is not a big deal.

I've edited you reference number out of your message as there is no need for that to be public. JB

I can certainly arrange surgery in mid-January but we have not planned operating lists that far ahead at present and if you do want surgery then you will need to ask me about the end of October I would think. If we are going to delay in that way I would definitely go ahead and inject it in the meantime anyway. Even if injection does not fix the problem it should at least help to stop it getting worse in the intervening 5 months. JB

I can find you a surgery space on 4th February 2012 at present. Pity it never got  injected - there was always a chance that might have cured it and it could have been done easily while we were deferring surgery for other reasons in any case. However, if you want that slot on 4th Feb I will book it tomorrow when I am back in Canterbury. JB
