Injection update

Dear Dr Bland, it is now just over one month since I had an injection in my left hand. It hasn't worked as well as the injection I had in my right hand May 2014. Although the numbness and tingling in my fingers is no longer a problem my wrist constantly aches, as does my whole arm. With both hands now I find it hard to bend my fingers without pain and discomfort, especially first thing in the morning. When I press the inside of my palms on both hands where the knuckles are it is very tender. I feel everything has tightened up in both hands now. Also, on the back of my left hand when I move the first finger a raised area appears together with a nodule. I am wondering whether this could be tendonitis. Perhaps this is not associated with CT. I also have pain at the base of my thumbs and tender to touch. I do believe I have arthritis in both my wrists. Movement does improve slightly during the day. Heat treatment seems to help. Hope the above makes some kind of sense to you and I would be grateful for your comments.

It does sound as though there may be some tendon or joint problems there. It's probably worth us checking how much difference the left injection has made to the CTS objectively so I'll schedule another test but I would be inclined to book an ordinary appointment with your GP as well as you may need a rheumatological or hand surgery referral to look at the other issues.
