Hands much weaker
Hi, I have had both wrists operated on 3 years ago. I have recieved a participation form to fill in, as the questions are short, it was hard to explain my problem for example - my hands are not a bad score for dressing etc, although after a short period of time my hands are very weak and painful . Also holding phone etc for a short time still sets of pins and needles.
Another problem I have now is trigger thumb on my right hand.
I cannot garden as my hands don't have the strength to weed etc and will not grip.
I have posted my form today although it was sent in error sorry.
What can be done for trigger thumb ? My fingers are stiff now and ache in my joints they are much weaker than before when doing daily tasks.
Like CTS trigger digits respond to both steroid injection and surgery, and CTS surgery can reduce grip strength yes. If the stiffness of the fingers is very troublesome it might be worth seeing a hand surgeon or rheumatologist again as there may be joint problems too. JB
Have you received one of our survey letters regarding patients we started seeing in 2007? If so then you have slipped throught the net a little because we already knew about your surgery and we were only supposed to be contacting people who had at least one unoperated hand when we last saw them. However I am still interested in how your symptoms have ended up. It is over two years since I last saw you and I know you still had problems at that time. If you can send me back an up to date multiple choice questionnaire that would be much appreciated. It should be answered at face value, without trying to figure out what symptoms might be related to what disease - there are no 'wrong' answers. You can also provide as much extra information as you like through the forum here. Trigger digits are common in people who have CTS so I hope someone is treating that for you.
