unable to move wrist
Morning
Sorry to have to contact you, since my las injection in October, this took a little longer to settle down but were pretty good. Since Friday my wrist has locked and very very painful to touch but no real swelling or heat from it. Any advice please would be greatful.

Thank you for your quick response.
Sorry about my terminology, yes the right wrist has become rigid, with no flexibility in any direction and unable to hold a cup without severe pain.
Fingers are stiff ,and can only part clench a fist with considerable pain.
Does ease a little if kept elevated, pain is only in area to four inches up from wrist.

OK that definitely doesn't sound like CTS - is it hot to touch/swollen/red? - local signs of inflammation like that would make you wonder about acute tendonitis, gout or pseudogout. I presume there has been no acute injury or you would have said. I would try to see your GP first about that. Let me know if they can't look at it fairly quickly. In the meantime an anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen is probably a good first aid measure to try along with keeping it elevated - perhaps alternate heat packs/icing might be another harmless experiment to try. Thankyou so much for advice, I will contact my GP for an appointment, its not really hot or swollen and have started with ibuprofen cream and will keep you updated.
Thanks again for advice and wish you a merry xmas and happy new year to you and you team.
Bill
Took your advice and used the ibuprofen cream and has eased considerably, so have not contacted doctors.
Thankyou once again and apologise for wasting your time.
Merry Xmas and Kind Regards

Glad it's getting better but I'm curious as to what it was - definitely not a waste of time asking, don't hesitate to get in touch about anything that might be connected with the CTS. One of the unexpected pleasures of creating this site has been the possibilty of staying in touch easily with patients outside formal consultation times. JB
Can you explain a little more what you mean by 'locked' - it's not an obvious symptom of CTS - ie I don't get lots of people coming in to the clinic saying that - but I'm not sure I understand exactly what you mean. My first thought was that it had become rigid? If we are talking about limitation of movement is it only the wrist or is it fingers too? Does it apply to both flexion and extension? How much movement is there? Can it be moved passively - ie with the other hand. Is it limited by pain or is it physically stiff like a steel bar? - that sort of thing JB
