Contacting Dr J Bland / Progress
I underwent surgery on my left hand on 22 October. Recovery going well and although there is some numbness in the fingertips it is a vast improvement.
Please could I be booked for another appointment as soon as possible in order to get the right hand surgery done.
Many Thanks
Fleur Burns
Thanks for your reply. If there is no sooner than mid January then obviously I appreciate that and will have to wait.... but if there is any chance you can fit me in for December, I can attend any last minute appointments you have and I have 2 weeks off over Xmas so would be able to fully rest after the operation. Also earlier because the right hand is causing me real problems now, even using the support, this is not helping, and I am hardly getting any sleep. Many thanks again.

I've put you in Dr Rine's list for a mid January slot for now - letter with dates will go out in today's post (probably better not to post them on the public forum here). I'll let you know if we get anything earlier. JB
Hello Doctor Bland
Just to update you, I have had right hand carpal-tunnel done last Saturday. Movement is great, completely different to post operation effects of left hand.
However, I am quite concerned about my left hand, 2 and a half numb finger tips which I known will take time, if ever. Still get shooting twangs through palm of hand and still very tender but I am very concerned with muscle around the base of thumb. This is causing severe discomfort and making any form of function difficult. Would there be a possibility you could at least have a look at this thumb tendon and muscle as I do not know who else to speak to as not much hope with my GP. Looking foward to your soonest reply as this left hand is causing severe discomfort.
Thank you and kind regard.
Fleur
Comparing with the notes from 7th January relating to the left hand it rather sounds as though you might have a new problem developing on that side. This could either be a complication of surgery or something entirely unrelated. I can squeeze you into a clinic on 31st January as an extra patient if you would like me to take a look at it, though it might involve some hanging about. Let me know if you want to do that please. JB
Hello Doctor Bland
Please can you squeeze me in on 31st January, I am more than prepared to wait as long as nec. Just let me know the time and where I need to come. Thank you.
Fleur
Come along at about 11:00 am to 11:30 - we are a bit tight for laboratory space that day so getting you tested will be the challenge - I should not be too busy myself I hope. I will send out an appointment letter but don't worry if it doesn't reach you, just turn up at the Kent and Canterbury neurophysiology department JB
Thank you, I will be there for 11 am on Tuesday 31st. I am most grateful.
I'm not back in the Canterbury office to make a booking until Saturday morning but I will see what we have in the way of appointments for surgery then and let you know what we can do - probably about mid January now I think. JB
