Dear Doctor Bland
Having been referred to Doctor Worrellow at Charing surgery last June he gave me steroid injections to both wrists
which had immediate affect ,until now.The symptoms have returned ,Doctor Worrellow did say to me that this may happen and that I might need for the injections to be repeated and he would do this for me.If this is possible please could you advise me how I can arrange it

Many thanks

How do the symptoms feel now in comparison to how they were back in July 15 when we tested you? If you want a more formal way to get a handle on this you could repeat the symptom severity questionnaire here on the website (from the MyCTS pages). If it feels much worse we should re-test it to check if that is physiologically the case or not. If it feels milder at this point we could consider just re-injecting if it was very effective last time. The debate over the evidence for the use of repeated injection is complicated and something I am actively engaged in researching at present. There are plenty of surgeons who genuinely believe that it is a bad idea. I am not so sure myself. JB

Thank you for your reply. When I contacted you I was suffering from the symptoms at night during a period while working and now after a few days off I have not been affected. I need to go back to work so would like advice about what to do if the problem returns.

Sounds as though that might just have been a brief relapse that has sorted itself out. As for follow-up just stay in touch with us through the forum here. We keep an eye on this more or less 365 days a year so we can usually provide advice immediately and, at least at the moment, the organisation of CTS care in this area allows us to arrange further testing and treatment as required. As we haven't seen it for nearly a year we should re-test it and perhaps inject on the spot if appropriate - can you make Thursday morning (26th May) at about 9:30 am? JB
