Post injection

Hello. Firstly i would like to thank your team for the great treatment i experienced this week.
I had injections in both wrists on Tuesday and had almost immediate relief from the pain and discomfort caused by swelling in my hand joints. You have referred me to rhumatology regarding the joint swelling. Maybe I'm being impatient, but my thumb, index and middle fingers have not improved with regard to numbness/sensitivity! Is this something that takes a little longer to improve please. Thanks for your help.

Yes loss of sensation is generally slower to recover after either injection or surgery and in some cases never does recover I'm afraid. If it hasn't improved by the 6 week follow-up we should probably be thinking about surgery. JB

Thanks for your reply! I shall continue to hope it recovers! I wonder if waiting too long for my treatment has made this worse? It seemed to take so many weeks for my doctor to refer me to you! I did ask him if the loss of sensation could become permanent and he said no! Thanks again for your reply.

I would remain fairly optimistic at present. JB
