i had cts surgery on 7th january at herne bay. My scar took 4 weeks to heal. The scar is still very sore and the area around it very painful.i get very sharp pain around my wrist and i cannot do much with my hand at all. If I do use my hand the pain is worse. The pins and needles are better but have been replaced by pain. It is so bad at night that i started using the splint again but not sure if that is a good idea or not. I dont know what to do - I am hoping things will improve and I can get back to my gardening voluntary work.
This can be a problem in some patients. Unfortunately the heel of the hand is not the best place to have to make a surgical incision. I'll arrange to take a look at it sometime in the next couple of weeks. I'd like to make sure that we are seeing some measurable improvement in nerve function and we will also take a look at the ultrasound imaging to ensure that the ligament has been fully divided, though if the pins and needles have resolved it probably has. If it does look as though the problem is simply inflammation and fibrosis around the operation site we will probably then arrange some hand therapy. I'll fit you in as soon as I can. JB
