Should I have steroid injection?

Hello,
I have been using a splint part of the day and every night for three weeks. My symptoms have improved. I can move my middle and ring finger now. The pain below my fingers at top of palms has gone.

The only time I feel a dull pain is when I am holding my fork or pen. The middle finger feels like it’s received a mild electric shock.

I am due to have a steroid injection with G.P. on Thursday. Should I attend this appointment or continue with wearing the splint?

Kind Regards,
Andrea

I had steroid injections and they worked well for a period of time... only a couple of months, but my symptoms were quite severe. Apparently there are people who find that the injection fixes things for 10+ years!

Nothing ventured? It takes a week or so for the effects to be felt, but during that time, you can still continue splinting.

All the best in getting some relief.

As long as your GP knows what they are doing it's a pretty low risk intervention - ask how many they do - so if there are still significant symptoms despite splinting it's worth a try You just have to ask yourself whether you are actually bothered by the current symptoms. On the other side of the argument there is no rush so you can afford to wait a few more weeks with a splint first and then decide. Treating CTS is very much a matter of what works for the patient. Thank you for replying.
Can I do that? What if the G.P. says he doesn’t do many? What do I say?
Kind Regards,
Andrea

If he doesn't inspire you with confidence then ask if there is anyone available who does lots of them I guess. It's actually a very common procedure. JB
