Post CTS Pains

Hi,
1. I had all the symptoms of CTS from Jan'17, after my hectic 8 hrs a day working on MS Excel for a week, mostly using the mouse - numbness, stiffness and pains.
2. Having gone through surgery for CTS in the first week of June '17, my right hand fingers are stiff, remain a little swollen and pain all the time. The pain is severe only when i need to move/work/twist/lift etc and pain is not much when idle.
3. Pains severely when i have to - squeeze a lemon, lock/unlock doors, open a door, take a turn on the steering wheel, clench my fist, carry a bag, lift a load etc. Most severe pain is at the second joint on middle & ring fingers including a nerve running along the little finger and down the wrist half way down to the elbow.
4. My GP and ortho say that i have to just 'live with it' !!

Please advice it is normal !

Some of those symptoms don't really sound like CTS at all. Did you have nerve conduction studies done before surgery and have you had any done since? JB

Thanks for your concern Doc!
Yes, NCS was done in fact twice before the surgery and not done yet after the surgery. However, the numbness has since gone. Symptoms said are of the present, 6 months post surgery !

The symptoms on the little finger side would normally be due to problems with the ulnar nerve - did they say anything about that on the NCS? If you have access to the NCS results we can take a look at them and see what they showed. JB

Doc,regret I do not have copies of the NCS.
However, good news is that the orthopedic this time around emphasised that i do exercise the affected hand & has referred me to physiotherapy. This was never advised by any of the GPs before and all had asked me to rest the hand.
'Basics'- you would say
Thanks Doc for all your concerns & prompt advices !! Grateful !

Interesting at least to see if it improves with physio. If not then some post-operative NCS should be organised and ask for a copy of the report. JB
