Repeat tests
14 January 2012 - 1:45pm
Hello Dr Bland
I had electro-physiology tests done some 18 months ago which indicated I had CTS in both hands the right being more severe than the left. I was given cortisone injections that worked for a limited period of a few months. I'm a bit puzzled by the need for the questionnair and further electro-physiology tests given that the diagnosis was confirmed just 18 months ago.

Peter Giles
18 months is a long time for CTS and it's not really a matter of making the diagnosis - we use the tests much more for measuring severity of nerve dysfunction than for diagnosis. The questionnaire is just routine history taking for the most part but one section of it does give us a measure of what the symptoms feel like to you which can be used for tracking changes in symptom severity and functional impairment. The website here allows us to present the questionnaire in a more controlled way than the paper version you would have done last time you came to us and if you can manage to complete it online it also streamilnes the running of the clinic a little and cuts down on paper usage.
