Left hand pain aaaaaarrghhhhhhhhhgain
Hi Jeremy
I saw you last about a year ago with a mystery burning pain around my left wrist, and which you sent me for second opinion with Mr Smith.
Mr Smith requested that I had an MRI scan which I finally had in early Sept after wishing the summer away and it was concluded that I has a swollen median nerve and an injection relieved the pain straightaway. I have been pain free until about 3 weeks ago. But it is quickly getting back to the levels it was last summer, day and night, and affecting my sleep.
I have a follow up appointment with Mr Smith on 15 May. I am presuming (and hoping) that a more permanent attempt to solve the problem may be offered now and was wondering what the waiting times are for CTS surgery at present and to gauge how long I would have to wait after I see him on the 15th to get a date - the thought of another long summer of this pain fills me with dread.
Thank you in advance for any advice!
Regards Jane
Happy to come for a test (have not had appointment through yet) but I have no tingling or numbness just the burning - just as a year ago and symptoms were not judged to be CTS. Don't want to waste your time! I only have two more weeks to wait to see Mr Smith now.
He will almost certainly want us to re-test it anyway. I'll see what's happened on the appointment front and get back to you. JB
There are a couple of cancellations tomorrow (Thursday) morning. Would you be able to come in then? Otherwise I will send an appointment out in the post. EK
Hi Emma
Just found your message - no one discussed my results with me on the day. Please advise results. Regards Jane
Interesting that that responded to steroids. That might either mean that it was an unusual symptom of CTS, or alternatively that you had something else which was also sensitive to steroids (many things are). As we haven't seen you for nearly a year it would be a good idea to check and see how bad your CTS is at this point. Depending on who we get to operate we should be able to get a surgery slot between about 2 weeks and 6 months from the decision to go ahead. We'll organise a test JB
