Contacting doctor Bland- Progress
I had the surgery on my L wrist on Wed 25th January, All went well, just have to wait for it to heal and see what happens. I have to return to Monkton Suite in 4 weeks to have a check-up so will keep you updated.
Many Thanks
Amanda Turner
I can only feel the pain from the op but at the moment no problems with numbness etc, so fingers crossed it has worked. Will keep you updated.

Out of curiosity, how painful would you say it was on the usual 0-10 scale (0 = no pain 10 = the worst imaginable pain) - firstly for the operation itself, and secondly now in the post-operative period? JB
For the operation i would rate it as 0 although i felt it weird as i had sensation of things being moved in my wrist. Post operative period i would rate as a 5 due to it being uncomfortable at the moment with the stitches feeling like they are being pulled when i move my fingers.

Thankyou - I am sure the surgeon will be happy with the report of an effectively painless operation. JB
Yes they were brilliant Mr Smith and the surgeon that done it was called Nick, could not fault them in any way.

Hi there just sending you an update, i had my surgery on 25th Jan and it has made a huge difference and dont really have much problem now, it still can be difficult to lift as i think it might still be healing inside as it pulls, but great thanks for all your help over the years and hopefully can hold out to have the other one operated on as i used my left hand more than my right.
Glad to hear it is doing OK. I wonder if that sensation of 'pulling' on lifting a heavy load is connected with the loss of the transverse carpal ligament (the bit that is cut during surgery). In a normal wrist this ligament acts like a kind of pulley for the flexor tendons and cutting it undoubtedly changes the mechanics of the wrist and grip. I would be curious to know whether it evetually returns to feeling completely normal or not in due course. Thanks again, JB
The CTS symptoms should feel markedly better already I hope, given that this was a neurophysiologically mild CTS. JB
