Treatment update: LH overnight splint.
Since the consultation in July 2018 I have found no difference to wearing or not wearing the splint overnight. Neither troubles me or keeps me awake at night. F.Y.I. Thumb base joints remain intermittently painful as before. Do you wish me to continue wearing it at night?
The base joint area pain in both thumbs has been with me for a very long time, probably 15 to 20 years. The severity fluctuates from a near constant dull ache, to sharp 'stabbing' pains that can make movement or gripping virtually impossible for a fairly short time, these intervals the most troublesome.
If that's causing significant interference to your daily activities then we could seek an opinion from the hand surgeons as to whether there is anything they can offer for it. Would you like to explore that, or just sit tight and wait to see how it develops for a while? JB
No that's a long enough trial. The lack of any effect tends to support my suspicion that your very mild median nerve problem at the wrist is not the primary cause of symptoms. Is the thumb base pain the most troublesome symptom overall? JB
