Inceased Symptoms After Surgry
I had CTS release surgery in June. It is now October and I have more severe issues than before and regret the surgery. My pointer finger is completely numb at the tip, with less numbness towards that base of that finger. There are multiple degrees and places of numbness from my pointer finger and thumb. If I had to describe it, it's like a baseball mitt and the space between the thumb and pointer finger that's kind of a mesh, is where I am experiencing issues. It's hard to describe. The numbness in my pointer finger is so complete that I cut myself and didn't even feel it, I didn't know until I looked at my had and saw the cut. My physical therapist stopped therapy because he said it wasn't helping and suggested I have another nerve test to determine the difference between now and before the surgery. This has been quite distressing as I type in my job. I can type but I can't grip to well, hold anything with any weight for too long, and button items...the list could go on. There is a definate worsening of my hand after surgery and my doctor and I are discussing my having a disability. Thoughts on this please. Also, I do experience sharp, stinging pain shooting through my hand, and aching, especially since it is getting cold outside.
I was getting better, but after a really "physical" therapy session ( therapist bent my wrist more than I would of like her to. ) my hands and wrists are starting to feel like they did pre-carpal tunnel surgery.
My surgeon suggested that I give it more time, I fired him and I am seeking a second opinion now.
We definitely need before and after surgery nerve conduction studies to start making sense of that I think. JB
The first thing we need to start analysing what is wrong there is the pre and post-operative nerve conduction tests. What were the symptoms like before surgery and was any other treatment tried before resorting to the knife? JB
