Request for Steroids FAO Dr Bland

Hello,

I had an appointment back in July and was diagnosed carpal tunnel in my right hand. I was a few months pregnant at the time, although the carpal tunnel pre-dated the pregnancy. I took a splint, which has not, unfortunately, solved the problems and in fact they have got worse. I was trying to hold off steroid injections until after the pregnancy as I am a type one diabetic and the injection raises blood sugars. Unfortunately the pain and lack of ability in my hand are making me rethink. Would it be possible to arrange to have the steroid injection please? I have spoken to the diabetes team and they are happy for me to do this. I am now 29 weeks pregnant.

Many thanks,

Ruth Potter

Yes at 29 weeks it should not be a problem though you are right it probably will raise your blood sugars for  a day or two. We could do that for you on Monday or Tuesday next week - more or less any time that you can make it I think. JB

What is the number I should call to make an appointment please?

Thank you

Just tell me what time you want to come in - between 9:00 and 4:30, either here or in an email if you want to keep it out of public view, and turn up. JB

Thank you. Is it every Monday and Tuesday? It's a bit tricky this week as it's half term, would it be the same on 29/30th?

Usually any Monday to Thursday - as long as the relevant staff are not on leave. JB
