Three weeks post-op

Hello. I had surgery on my right wrist on 31st October. The op went very well and, for anyone who's worried about having it done, please don't be concerned. I'm the biggest wuss and managed to get through it by chatting aimlessly to the surgeon and the lovely nurse.

Apart from that, three weeks on and I still have quite a lot of pain. I can't undo bottles, squeeze a toothpaste tube or hold a hairbrush. Is this normal? I saw my GP yesterday, for something totally different, and she thought it still looked quite swollen and inflamed. I haven't been brave enough to drive yet as I can't turn the key to start the engine! Could you give me some idea of how long this could last. I have absolutely no actual carpal tunnel pain and my fingers haven't suffered from any pins and needles at all so, as far as I'm concerned, the surgery was a complete success. Just wondered how long the pain will continue for.

Thanks
TAF

It's pretty variable so not especially a cause for concern. I would only start to worry if it seemed to be getting steadily worse or was persisting beyond about 8 weeks or so - in which case we would take a look at it to see what's going on. JB
