I had a third depo injection in both hands 3 days ago with no pain on injection but when anaesthetic wore of my middle finger on my right hand is completely numb and sore it’s beginning to worry me this has never happened before. Any insight would be appreciated.

Is it all of the middle finger or just part of it? The nerves to the fingers are arranged anatomically so that there is a nerve for each side of the finger, for example one branch of the median nerve heads towards the gap between the middle and ring fingers and then divides into two with one sub-branch going to half of the ring finger and one to half of the middle finger - so if you can work out the exact affected territory you can sometimes work out roughly where an injury might be. It is possible to injure just a part of the nerve with the needle - especially if they have used a local anaesthetic first so that you can't feel them sticking the needle into the nerve. JB

It seems to be all of the finger both sides are numb, was hoping when I got up today it might be a bit better but it’s not

Although the shooting pain when I move it is towards my index finger and I did have an anaesthetic injection before the depo injection

It's possible that is a needlestick injury to the nerve but impossible to say for sure from an internet discussion. If that is the explanation then there is not much you can do about it except wait for it to recover - which could take anything from a few days to a year or two depending on the severity of the injury.
