hi, just a quick update, i am glad surgery is booked for next month as the pain is unbearable, it is constant all night and hurts through out the day, also, my left hand was showing advanced symptoms last night, with numbness, which i never get from that hand. I expect i will need surgery in the future for my left hand also unfortunately, jc
I reckon about 90% of cases turn out to involve both hands eventually. JB
hi there, had my op 3 days ago at herne bay, the op went well, the staff were lovely, i have complete numbness in my thumb tip, and my next 2 fingers are numb from tip to the middle, altho i had numbness before this is worse! i am trying the hand excercises as best as i can but quite concerned with the severe numbness.
It is possible (not confirmed yet) we may have a space for surgery in Herne Bay on Saturday 1st December - would you be able to make that? JB
oh do u really think i need further surgery as i am still getting over last weeks surgery, will it not be a case of waiting to see if feeling comes back in time
Sorry that was a reply to an earlier message - this thread now having extended onto a second page. How does it feel at present - improved or still more numb than it was before surgery? JB
it is much more numb than before surgery, the second finger is very stiff with severe numbness in it, plus my thumb and third finger more numb, i am not getting any pain like before at the moment, i am just worried about the numbness
As this was grade 5 before surgery I am not too worried at present. The nerve function will have been rather marginal before operation and the minor trauma of surgery may have been enough to stop it working altogether for a while. If it is still numb when the stitches come out at 2 weeks we will test it again to check that there has not been a measurable deterioration. JB

Hello, i had my stiches out 2 weeks ago, unfortunately my 3 fingers are still numb (worse than before op) you said you would arange to re test to see if they have deteriorated further, i am also having more symptoms in the left hand now, I know its xmas season, so I await to hear from you to make an appt at your convenience, thank you.
I can see you Xmas eve but then I am not working Xmas week so if that is inconvenient then we will have to find a day in January. JB

The only clinic I have in the first week of Jan is Thursday 3rd and that is fully booked at present. If someone cancels I can bring you forwards to then but for the present we are stuck I'm afraid. JB

Hello there, just to remind you if anyone cancels this week, you said maybe 3rd jan,, would you let me know please so i can be tested, as i am due back to work the following week,. and my hand is too tender and not healed enough really. i am quite worried about it as it is completly numb in thumb and two fingers, (worse than before op). the feeling hasnt come back and my op was 6weeks ago, I know the healing takes time but i am concerned that when i go back to work as a carer i could damage it more, the bottom part of the scar is very tender and hurts when i move my hand backwards or downwards. No-one has cancelled from Thursday 3rd Jan I'm afraid and I am doing clinics in London on Wednesday and Friday - sorry! That leaves us with Tuesday 8th - if it helps we could do that appointment early in the morning instead of in the middle of the day. JB

I usually arrive about 8:30 - Canterbury traffic permitting - so if you try to get there about then we will fit you in before the rest of the morning starts. JB

Also i need another sickness cert, my doctor would like a report from you saying i have to be signed off further, would you be able to send that to me please? I've already sent a report to Dr Downie suggesting that you should have another couple of weeks off. I'll let you know when I hear back from hand therapy. JB
