Steroid injections
I had steroid injections in both wrists on 30th May 19, 10 minutes after the injection I had severe pain in my left thumb that lasted about 6hours, since then I have had minimal symptoms in either hands, so far so good.
I have had CTS symptoms again for around 6 weeks now, I was hoping to wait until lockdown was over but am finding the pain too much to cope with, I am wearing the splints most of the time except when I am working and they are not providing any relief, is it possible to get another steroid injection ?
I think we can do those for you tomorrow if you notice this message in time and can meet a few conditions. You would have to be able to make it to the department at about 1:00pm and there is a set of instructions HERE - covering the precautions we are taking during the epidemic. I'll put it in the diary for tomorrow in case you do see this and can make it - if not I can always take the booking off again. If we miss tomorrow we probably can't do anything until week beginning 4th May. JB
That is brilliant, I can make tomorrow at 1pm, I meet all the conditions and will call prior to leaving for the appointment, thank you
Good morning Dr Bland,
I hope you are keeping well. It's been a long while since I Ave needed help with my carpal tunnel, but I am experiencing severe numbness which is keeping me awake at night. I am contacting you to ask if there is any possibility of having an injection? I am sure, due to the virus that there are strict rules at your department, which I will adhere to.
I await your response.
Kind regards
Louise Wynne
It should be possible in the week beginning 4th May if Emma remains well. Check with me towards the end of next week.JB
Good afternoon Dr Bland,
Thank you so much. I will check with you at the end of next week.
Regards
Louise Wynne
Hi, for the last couple of months I have been experiencing CTS symptoms again predominantly in my right hand, it is getting to the point now where I am struggling at work as I am right handed, is it possible to be seen again ?
Yes but as this thread has become rather confused with another patient would you mind starting a new one please. You should also complete a new severity score here on the website if you have not already done so. JB
That's a curiously localised pain in the thumb but at least it didn't last long. I'm glad to hear that the CTS symptoms have improved. We will add a comment to the records. Just contact us directly if and when it goes off again. JB
