Brace - does it need to be worn indefinitely?
I had a cortisone injection in January 2018 and have not had any further symptoms. I have worn a brace every single night since the injection but I’m not sure if this is necessary. Would appreciate your advice. Thanks
One thing nobody ever seems to know about, and in fact there is misinformation regarding is the fact that working with heat can cause excruciating carpal tunnel almost overnight. I began a job as a mold machine operator about 7 years ago and from day one for the next 3 years I was in complete agony and my life was ruled by pain in my hands. When looking online for what was going on all I could find was that it was carpal tunnel, and that it was from repetitive movements and warm water would bring relief. ABSOLUTELY wrong! So many horrific nights could have been avoided if someone out there could have told me this could be from handling hot parts all day. I truly hope someone who is desperate as I was finds this and will simply stop working with heat. I have never felt carpal tunnel again since leaving that job, thank god! I wore braces 24 hours a day and they did provide some relief, but the reason I type this is because it didn’t take months or years to bring on carpal tunnel for me, so many people may be having similar issues and it’s not a requirement that handling hot parts be your daily job for this to happen, I’m sure there are people who are suffering and have no idea they should avoid heat like the plague. At least try it and see if you get any relief. It took about a month after leaving that job for it to go away, it will most likely not go away overnight depending on how long you’ve been doing it.
Please don't clog up the forum with multiple postings of the same story. I think one also has to observe that there are many patients who find that warming the hands does help so one cannot make generic recommendations that will be right for everyone. JB
Probably time to try leaving it off and see if the symptoms come back. They may or may not. JB
