re scan
Hello, sorry to be a pain, but would it be possible to come on any other day other than thursday to have a scan on both hands, my operation is this sat. at 9.00am. Thankyou for tour time.
Firstly thankyou for your prompt reply,
As you are really busy, and as it is not imperative the scan is done prior to the operation, to save you any further disruption, would it be ok to get in touch with you via the forum, for this to be done post op ?
I would still really be interested to have a scan, to see how things have settled..

So surgery is next weekend. I would quite like to update the test results before we take a knife to it as the most recent results are from 17th October which is getting to be quite a way back (though still recent enough that we do not absolutely have to retest before surgery). The best alternative to Thursday would be to add you to the end of Tuesday morning's clinic at about 1:00pm - could you make that? JB
I have changed my other oppointment on thursday, so i will come along as you suggested,(between 9-12 am) if that ok ?
I would rather get it all up to date. Thankyou.
At the moment one 9:30 am patient and one 12:30 patient on Thursday have cancelled so there are good opportunities to fit you in at those times. JB
Sure no problem. While we've got you here we may as well bring your NCS up to date too so I'll make it a formal booking. JB
Thankyou for my appointment yesterday, It was brilliant to see the actual nerves etc, I found it really interesting although far to complicated for my small brain !.
I was puzzled. to see my left hand had gone from a level 2 to a level 1, as it appears to be more fizzy and painful than the last test. After the scan did the results differ from the level 1 result ? and explain my CTS ? It will be brilliant to eventually have both hands pain free hopefully..
I am having surgery tommorow, I am very happy with the positive results of my right hand after surgery in october 2011.

The key thing to remember is that what we measure with the nerve conduction studies is not the same thing as your symptoms. A very 'abnormal' nerve can cause no symptoms at all, and a normal one can give you a lot of pain - just think about burning your hand, the nerves which carry those pain signals to the brain are themselves perfectly normal - but it still hurts. That is why we use the questionnaire answers on here to measure how the symptoms feel to you - because neither the nerve conduction tests nor the ultrasound can tell us what you are feeling. The imaging changes in your hands are pretty much in keeping with the nerve conduction results - only mild abnormalities. I hope all goes well tomorow JB
Mr bland Hi after all this time I had an angiogram in dec 2019 unfortunately the cannula appears to have bought back all my carpel tunnel symptoms in my right hand the cannula was excruciating when fitted and I have had pain and pins and needles in my fingers ever since can you please help ?
Yes we can take a look at that. It will take 4-5 weeks to find an appointment slot though at present. I'll see what I can find when I get into the office on Monday. JB (Appt found on 18th March - letter in post)
The only days I am in Canterbury are Monday, Tuesday morning, and Thursday and we try to concentrate the more unusual carpal tunnel stuff on Thursday morning where possible. I'll look at the schedule tomorrow and make a further post then. JB
