Second op
Hello there, I had my right wrist operated on in November last year at Whitstable with a good result. How do I get an appointment for my left hand? Do I have to be re-referred and go through the tests again or can I go straight for the op?
Thank you for your reply. I have now repeated the questionaire for both hands. The right hand does not now cause any problems and the main problem with my left hand is tingling and pins and needles with only moderate pain. Hopefully the surgery will help and await an appointment. AL
I've booked you a slot for surgery on the second hand with Dr Ribchester later this month and we will put an appointment letter in the post today (I don't usually put actual dates here on the website for all to see). If the dates prove to be inconvenient we can always alter them. JB
What usually happens is that my computer system here generates a follow-up letter to you about 3 months or so after surgery which asks you to report how the operation turned out and also enquires about the other hand. Your 3-month post surgery letter would be due round about now. However, looking at your records I see that your operation is not yet recorded on the computer system here. Whitstable rely on the surgery in primary care office to add those records to the system and this one seems to have been missed. That does not mean that there is no record of your surgery - just that it has not been copied to my system. As I have no record of the operation that means there will be no automatically generated letter. I will try to get the records updated but in the meantime, if the November operation has been successful and the other hand is still a significant problem, I can book you a surgery slot for the other hand. Your last NCS were on 7.11.11 so they are still reasonably up to date. It would however be useful if you could repeat the questionnaire on here though - it will only repeat the last part of it and that will give me a better idea of the current severity of your symptoms.
