symptoms following steroid injections
Hi. I had repeat injections in both wrists on Monday 20th July, by Emma. For the first couple of days I had no reaction but since last Thursday the symptoms of carpel tunnel syndrome have come back worse. I have throbbing up both forearms and in both wrists together with the usual tingling in my fingers. Is this usual, or am I being too impatient for results. I am currently wearing splints on both wrists to see if this helps. Your comments would be appreciated.
I have to be honest in that due to the number of previous injections, I can't remember how long it took before. I do remember having a bad reaction one year when one arm was really painful and I returned to your clinic and you carried out an ultrasound on it. It did eventually settle but I cannot recall how long it took. At this moment, both of my whole arms are throbbing even though I have got splints on. It seems strange that it seem to settle slightly during the day yesterday, but during the night it got worse and has been a problem all day.
Looking back at the records I can see we documented that episode quite well. They were both injected on 10th June 2015 and you reported forearm pain and swelling on both sides on the 16th. We looked at them agian on 18th June and when we next saw you in 2019 I made a comment in the report that the 2015 episode of pain lasted for about 2 weeks.
In 2018 there was an episode of CTS symptoms that was severe enough that we referred you for surgery but by the time you got to the surgeons it had settled so as far as I can see it was never operated.
I think with this episode we should hang on for another couple of weeks and see what happens. Carry on with splints - not too tight - and keep me posted. JB
8 days is probably a bit early to assess the outcome, though you have had quite a few previous injections - how does this time compare withthe earlier ones? JB
