2 rounds of steroid injections

Hi Dr Bland,

I have now had 2 sets of steroid injections (June/July 2019 and February 2020).
My hands (particularly my right hand) are once again starting to ‘go’. I’m not sure how long to leave before I should come back and see you. We discussed the surgery option it it reappeared and would like to discuss this with you please.

Thanks,

Francesca

Well so far it's been going in the right direction - from grade 5 to grade 3 - so it probably makes sense to test it again and see if the trend is continuing before reaching a decision on re-injection or surgery. I've added you to the list to be seen. Could you add another severity score to the record here on the website please. JB

Good morning,

I had another set of steroid injections in Oct/nov (can’t quite remember the date), but both hands are going downhill quickly. Please can I come back and see you to discuss surgery as I think this is the route I’m going to have to go? Thanks, francesca

We almost decided to operate on it last time didn't we - I see we got as far as putting you on the waiting list. We could just put you back in the surgery queue but it might be a good idea to just check the test results once more as the general treand so far has been for them to be improving. Could you add a new severity score to the website please and then I'll make an appointment. JB

Thank you, I’ll do that this evening.
Yes, I was on the surgery list but decided to go for the injections again as I was a bit apprehensive due to Covid, but I think I’m going to have to go for it. Thanks.

Hi there,
I had surgery on my right hand on Friday, all
Seems to have gone ok so far. Will I need to come back in before I can have the left one done?

Thanks, Francesca

As it was done by the orthopaedic surgeons they may well offer to do the second one in a few weeks but if you don't hear anything from them just contact me. I would like to hear how they are both doing in 6-12 weeks anyway - sometimes the unoperated hand improves as well. JB

Ah that’s great, thanks. My left has been tingling more than ever, I think it’s feeling sorry for itself, having to do everything!
