Completed symptom questionnaire
As requested questionnaire id number: 222292
I have also received a letter saying I have been referred to a clinic and awaiting the appointment
I have had gp and physio say carpal tunnel more than likely
Have had two gp and 5 physio appts to say appears to be carpal tunnel And been attending since April 2020.
I am in agony and taking co codamol for pain, work is unbearable And getting worse everyday and impacting on life in a major way. Splints , painkillers , physio exercises aren’t working and the right hand is so bad with pain in fingers and wrist. Left is bad but right hand on another lever. Can’t sleep it has taken over my life and to be honest not sure how I’m going to work and having to take time off
Please anything to help I’m desperate, because of the pain I’m behind at home With young kids too
Have been referred to the hand, wrist and elbow Orthopaedic clinic in k and c But haven’t heard anything yet
Well it's not impossible that it's CTS but the website AI is much more often right in it's assessment of the likelihood of the diagnosis than the average physio. It's even slightly more accurate than I am. CTS is pretty uncommon in your age group. The AI could be wrong but it's more likely that the orthopaedic hand clinic will be able to help you than I will. Bear in mind that my clinic is very good at treating CTS but does not treat anything else so a trip to see me if you do not have CTS is a wasted journey. For a case like this it will take us 6 weeks or more to get around to seeing you so it might be worth trying to chase up the hand clinic appointment by calling the patient service centre to see if they can give you any indication when you are likely to be seen. If it's likely to be next year then I will fit you into a clinic here before Xmas but I'm not very optimistic about being able to help I'm afraid. JB
Hi Jeremy
Thank you for getting back to me
I have just rang the orthopaedic clinic and have just been told that they have triaged to the carpal tunnel clinic Apparently as of yesterday and it won’t be them anymore . I feel like I’m going round in circles my gp said possibly CTS when I discussed back in April and referred me to in house physio who I have dealt with two different physios and has been 6 occasions and are convinced it’s CTS . I have also paid for private physio. Other than hand and wrist exercises and been told to take drugs and splints I have battled on but now the pain is unbearable and struggling with numbness, pain , tingling in fingers and wrist and goes up to arm sometimes too . Driving, working , Normal life Has considerably got difficult more so since I have completed the questionnaire
I’m really stuck to what I should do can you please advise if it’s easier over email or phone call please let me know. I will compete another questionnaire to reflect current situation and would be grateful if you could see me
Thank you
It looks like we might have to see you to break the logjam, even if it does turn out that we can't do anything for you by way of treatment. If you email me the details listed on the patient infomration page I'll see what I can do. JB
That looks relatively unlikely to be CTS. Does the letter tell you which clinic you have been referred to? JB
