Cts post surgery

Hi everyone,

I had carpal tunnel open release and de quervains decompression on my dominant hand 1 week ago.

I can just about make a loose fist now and I can touch thin to fingers. Can't bend fingers all the way yet etc.

When I've been doing my exercises, my carpal tunnel scar goes soooo tight. It feels like things are getting stuck in my palm. It doesn't hurt its just very tight stuck feeling... Is this OK? If its scar tissue... Will contouring exercises help? I can feel my tendons gliding through sometimes... Again not painful.

Just wanting reassurance. I start hand therapy in 1 week for de quervains.

Thanks

Sorry, that should say *continuing not contouring.

Also my hand is so cold! Not blue but just very cold.

Yes one week after surgery it will often not feel quite right - think about how long it takes a scab from a graze to organise itself and then fall away. Repair of tissue after an insult like surgery does take a while. JB

Thankyou. It looks as though you probably have CTS. If you email me your date of birth, address, GP and phone numbers I'll organise an appointment (see the patient infomration page). You have attached this message to another patient's thread in the worldwide forum - it's generally better for East Kent patients to talk to me in the East Kent forum. JB
