Questionnaire

Unsure what to do as I don't think it its cts. Started off with numbness and severe tingling in whole hand for a week and now I only have constant numbness in pinky and ring, and pain in wrist, elbow and shoulder. My arm feel like its been punched and gone dead. Please let me know what you think and if I need to refer back to my gp. Thank you.

It is indeed unlikely to be CTS with that distribution of current symptoms, Could be an ulnar nerve problem at the elbow or something further up at neck level. How painful was it at the onset and how suddenly did it begin? JB

It was just a sudden pain down my arm one day where I could not tie my shoelaces, had no symptoms at all just seemed to suddenly be there. Was severely painful for a week throughout my whole arm and hand. Was persistently waking up with pins and needles. The last week my symptoms seemed to have settled somewhat, I have persistent numbness in my pinky and ring finger. My wrist and elbow are intermittently painful when doing normal activities or when leaning on elbow. Sometimes the back of my shoulder and back of neck get sore. My whole arm feels quite weak, I would say like after you have an injection. I have been waking up at night but don't know if I am just restless, arm can feel very uncomfortable, especially my elbow and the back of shoulder. I sometimes find it difficult getting comfortable just before going to sleep.

Another possibility is a mild episode of a condition best known as 'brachial neuritis'. Overall you might be best seen in a neurology clinic I think - I'm at best an amateur neurologist:-) JB
