Worsening to unbearable degree
Hi, over the last few days the pain from left mid forearm up has become excruciating (particularly around elbow and shoulder areas). I would say more painful than when this all began, my right hand thankfully has ceased to continue to be much of a problem! I am still having pins and needles in my fingers on my left hand but to a lesser degree! I have spoken to my doctor who has now increased my Amitriptyline from 10mg to 25mg daily. I am again taking far too many painkillers yet they are barely helping! I am not sleeping at all because if I lay down it is an even more unbearable pain if that’s possible. I would describe it as the worst toothache with a gnawing deep pain. I am unable to do any daily tasks. Advice desperately needed please. Regards.
I've made an appointment for Friday 8th January at 15:30. There may not be time for a letter to get to you given the state of the post so just turn up please. JB
Hi, when I saw you on the 8th Jan you said you were going to set up an MRI to further investigate my arm. I’ve still not heard anything so I’m assuming it’s to do with a backlog due to COVID and I just need to be patient?
Kind regards.
Not quite - I promised to arrange a neuology opinion rather than specifically an MRI scan - though I think it will probably need MRI. A referral was sent on the 8th January but you are right the neurologists do have quite a backlog. I'll ask the admin team to try and chase up how it is progressing. JB
It's sounding less and less likely that CTS is the major problem here. We can check to see if the NCS and ultrasound results have changed but I think you are probably going to need further assessment outside the CTS clinic. I'll make an appointment with us later this morning and send out a letter - I think it's probably going to be about a week into January now - but I suspect we will need to refer you on to neurology or hand surgery, JB
