Steroid injection didn’t work

I had a appointment at Canterbury on the 18th January 2021. I had a test and the CTS in my right had is now stage 5. I had a steroid injection and I am still in a lot of pain. I was wondering if I could get the operation as I am not working at the moment. Would it be possible to get put on the waiting list for the operation

Thanks

Yes we can add you to the list for surgery but it's not likely to happen for 6-12 weeks I suspect. As it was grade 5 I'm not too surprised by the lack of immediate response to injection. There is still some chance it moght improve as it's only 10 days so far and a few people do seem to improve between 1 and 6 weeks after injection. The other thing one might consider is doubling up the injection with a second dose next week as we don't have any immediate availability for surgery and there is a little evidence on the scientific literature that 80mg might work better than 40 in some circumstances. I'll print off the paperwork for a surgical referral now anyway and you can have think about re-injection over the weekend. JB
