Hi it’s been over a year since I had my left hand operated on I was quite disappointed after the operation as it has not had the same affect as my right one ( which I had operated on in 2019) the palm of my hand as been numb and tingly to touch after a few months of having the op and now I don’t seem to be able to grip very well would you be able to advise what to do.
Many thanks D Baber

If there is sensory loss in te palm itself as opposed to the fingers that can indicate an injury to small branch of the median nerve called the palmar cutaneous branch. Tt runs very close to where the incision is made and is sometimes injured during surgery. We shold probably re-test to see what state the median nerve itself is in and we might be able to see the palmar cutaneous branch on ultrasound - would you like me to send out an appointment? JB

Ok I've put you in my clinic on 7th May so that I can take a look at it myself. I'll send out a letter. Unfortunately I don't have an afternoon clinic at all at present where this would fit. JB
