On 29 Jan 2021 I had the Carpal Tunnel operation on my right hand. I have to report that whereas for a few months afterward, sensation had returned to my fingertips, today (24-11-21) numbness returned for a while. I'll post further updates if this situation doesn't improve or deteriorates.

It would be unusual to see a recurrence at this point after successful surgery so let me know how it goes. JB

Update 23-5-22..Numbness in very tips of fingers on right hand has returned except for my little finger which seems ok. Left hand is fine. A number of years ago I seem to recall being told I might have raynaud's disease. Not sure if that information is in my NHS records. However I don't recall ever being tested for such, or what could be done in any event given I'm 92 years old now.

I presume that loss of sensation in the fingertips has been constant since your last posting in November last year? We can test it again for you if you wish to see how much the nerve has changed with surgery. It was grade 5 beforehand so some residual loss of sensation would not be unusual. JB

Its 3 months since last report..my right hand (the one operated on) is ok apart from slight numbness at tip of middle 3 fingers - I can live with this..my left hand however, I have two fingers (little finger and adjacent finger) both with numbness in the whole finger..for my left hand, this represents a new report as thus far all of my problems have been with my right hand..where do we go from here ?

That sounds like a problem with the ulnar nerve rather than CTS. You can read about it here. We don't treat it in the CTS clinic and your GP may need to refer you to one of the hand surgeons if the self help measures described on my infomration page do not solve the problem. JB
