Steroid Inj.
Having the injection on monday...have some local anaesthetic cream to put on beforehand but Im really dreading it.
I know its going to hurt, but please tell me, will it ease my symptoms immediately??
The pain I have in my hand and up my wrist is torture.
I had the injection weeks ago and the relief has been worth going through some pain. I have had no problems sleeping
since the injection. Would I have the injection again, definitely. Good luck.
Youll die lauging!!
Had the injection today...I put the cream on the wrist as instructed, sat down with the GP with hand on pillow ready. Then realised Id applied the cream to the wrong wrist!!
Had the injection with no anaesthetic and it was nothing!! Daft bint!!
Anyway, thanks for your replies....
Just hope it all works.xxx
Well it's a good story to have here on the website - a bit of a counter to the people who go around scaring others with tales of agonising injections. Thankyou! JB
The majority of local steroid injections for CTS are not very painful, whatever you might have heard. We have been asking patients to rate the pain of injection on the usual scale from 0-10 (0=no pain at all, 10=the worst pain you possibly imagine) and the average answer is about 3. However, occasionally you meet someone who has had a very painful injection. This seems to be a random occurrence but it is of course those patients who go around telling everyone else what an awful experience it was. In terms of effect, most seem to work within 48 hours but a few patients find it takes longer - up to about 4 weeks or so. JB
