Goodevening Dott. Bland,

I am Valentina Viscardi and 6 months ago I had the injection done. After 1 month I was not completely through the problem but at the time I had not the initial sintoms.

Currently I am still having some difficulties: my wrists are not flexible (sometimes are like made of wood), after some efforts they are tight and doing some moviment a slightely painfull, many times in the morning I had numbness doing some actions.

Waiting for your feed back

thanks and regards

We should probably test you again at this point to see what we are dealing with. I will arrange for an appointment in the next few weeks I hope. JB

Hello.

I was wondering if there is any news about a meeting with your colleague in Herne Bay or any other updating.

thanks and regards

No word yet but the referral from me is probably still wending it's way through the administration of the orthopaedic department - it went to them on 7th August but may take a while to process and produce an appointment. I can try to nudge them a bit but can't actually tell them what to do I'm afraid JB

Hosiptal admin say you are 'on the waiting list' but they were unable to tell us how long that wait was likely to be - at least it has not been lost though. JB

thanks for updating.
but about what a surgery? if yes won't be possible after mid of sept. till beginning october

If them decision is to go ahead and operate then Mr Smith's queue for surgery is usually fairly short - at least in comparison to some orthopaedic waits. JB

Goodevening,

today I've received the letter for the appointment which is fixed on the half november.
I am quite disappointed because I've been waiting for over 1 month and then I have to wait further 2 months to understand if have a surgery done? In this case I have to be put again on a waiting list for it...???

thanks and regards

I'm sorry it's such a slow process. I am afraid the hand surgeons do seem to be getting ever busier - like me. Back at the start of August your symptoms were fairly mild - are they getting worse while we wait? If it is becoming a serious problem we could consider a further injection while waiting - an intervention which is at least usually pretty harmless. JB

I am not having the strong pain but as soon as I push a pit at work I can fell it.
I am a chef and soon the busy period will start, this problem that could be sorted out completely on January is slowely me down at work.
Waiting till november and then be put again in a waiting list for a surgery it would take really too long

In that case why don't we try the experiment of injecting it? JB

Valentina

I do not know. It's up to you tell me which would be the better solution ecause i am not a doctor so I need your guide

I think we will end up operating on it anyway but we can inject it on Thursday to try to reduce the symptoms while we wait for surgery. Can you drop in to see us between 9:00 and 12:00? JB

Hello Doctor Bland,

I am sorry haven't replied you before but I was on holiday in italy.
Before to carry on with a second injection I would like to know which are the side effects.

thanks a lot and sorry for the late reply

Usually none - some pain after injection occurs often enough to mention but rarely lasts more than a week. The possible serious side effects are discussed at length in the injection pages on this site. JB

We can probably only carry out an injection for you at the Kent and Canterbury hospital EMG clinic on a Thursday morning but we might be able to arrange other days in a GP surgery. Can you manage a Thursday morning? JB

Valentina

At the moment I can get surgery done around here usually in 1-3 months. You can come in whatever time you like on Thursday for injection up to about 12 noon.  JB

Hello

the 16 I had the visit at the hospital. Doc. Smith gave me another appointment by 6 weeks time since everything seemd to be ok. Since that day I've worked as normal. Since a week I felt again the wrists (also the right one that is the "good one") and the hands as well. Yesterday the left one was quite tight during the morning.

I would like to go through this problem forever. I am a chef and I need good hands and wrists. So far injections have not sorted out the situation 100%
What we are supposed to do now?

thanks and regards

I think eventually we are going to have to operate on this but remember that the operation itself carries a small risk of making you worse. We can do this to some extent when you decide it is a good time - right now for example I could book surgery for the 15th or 19th December, 2nd February or 2nd March. JB

thanks for the information. I'll talk about that to Doc. Smith during our next visit
